Lol your friend is an idiot no offense. You will need a custom built turbo exhuast manifold for it to work.

i bought a 14b with a manifold once to go on the 1.8 i guess you could match it up and drill holes but i doubt it'll work

You would either need a colt turbo manifold with an adapter for the dsm turbo or like Mischif said a custom turbo manifold.

Wouldn't it be nice though?  The situation with the 2.0L turbo manifolds are that the runners do not match up correctly (spaced apart too much? too high? too low?).  The way to go with getting a stock turbo manifold would be to grab the Colt's turbo manifold, but they're somewhat hard to come by.  You could certainly search http://www.Car-Part.com to see if they've got any available (basically, a website which junkyards and salvageyards can put their own vehicles on).
Otherwise, going through Ralph is a good bet.  If you've seen his work you'd be quite impressed.

I take it the pic posted was a 4G63T!? any ways, you can use a turbo manifold from an 87-88 dodge colt, 1.6 its a direct fit for the 1.8 4G37. But thats not all you have to think about, you have too think about your fuel pump, your injectors, your computer and your transmission.
The transmission will not hold much boost, the bale housing is too weak, thats why the turbo trans is thicker @ the bale housing, as for fuel pump, i would recommend a  255, it will fix the fuel issues you will run into, then you have to change out your injectors, the stock injectors will not open up enough to deliver the right about of fuel, even if you change the duty cycle's. Then your computer....very,very important....the fuel trim used by the 1.8 will not do, the A/F ratio will be off, then your just in a real ordeal.
You can do one of three things, change out your computer  a 2.0(4G63T) computer, use a piggie back system, or you can get a "stand alone" system....there are a few other issues, but check into that and get back with us

Well you could use all for the kit minus the manifold...and build a simple log mani as the rest of the kit will work with some minor modification

as far as the transmission it holds up just fine ...its the same trans that was fitted in the 3g CSM

now the clutch however is a weak link

and yes the fuel pump wont handle pressure levels needed for a turbo car

however these are normal issues when turboing a N/A car

From my understanding, the bale housing crack's when a turbo is put to the motor, and you are correct as far as the clutch go's, it will have too be changed out....now as for some of the stuff i named of, its more or less for safety reason's. You may get bu with some minor mods, but i dont think it will hold up for very long under boost

well the stock dsm 1.8 trans is standard kit in several mitsu turbo cars ... and I have yet to hear of any one breaking a BELL housing ...

a buddy of mine down in Panama City Fl.  had another friend who used the KMF22 Transmission on his turbo motor, and he said it run great, but after a while of running, the bale housing busted, and he run it two more times, some result. So he took the KMF33 Transmission( for the 4G63T) and gutted it out and put the parts from his KMF22 into his KMF33, the reason being was because the gear ratio in the 22 pulled and topped out better than the 33, this is just what ive seen

I agree, I don't think I would worry about the transmission too much until some major (for the average builder) HP was being made, as long as it is good & has good oil.

Pardon my ignorance partsguy, but what is a 3g CSM?

Is the fuel pump on a 1.8 indeed different from those on the turbo models? I thought I read somewhere (vfaq?) that all cars used the same pump (which is not that great hence the limited boost you can have on a turbo car with the stock pump - 15-16psi tops. I was hoping I could use the pump form my ol' 1.8 as a spare for my TSi if it would ever crap out...

If they are different pumps then bummer, I guess i will have to buy a new one if mine ever quits. Then again one more reason to get a walbro and up the boost a notch

as far as the fuel pumps i believe there different part#s  i know my stock fuel pump called it quits at 4 psi...plenty of volume but not enough pressure

and CSM stands for Colt Sapporo Mirage kinda like a DSM but a different chassis as far as the
